NAB was Boring

For about 13 years I’ve wanted to go to NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters). It all started when I worked as a personal assistant for a director in New York City. The director I worked for was huge on technological innovations in the film industry, and this was when the Canon Mark III was all the rage, and it didn’t even shoot 4K. Since moving to Las Vegas and now having all these conventions readily accessible to me, I finally took off time from work to attend. I was hopeful to see cutting edge technology that would change the way I made films.

It was not as expected. In fact, most of the show was about cloud computing and the new “green screens” technology called “stage craft” where you fill an entire studio with LED screens. Both myself and my friend Evan found it incredibly dull. And we produced this video about the show.

My trip to NAB 2023

Because NAB was such a bore, we went to Red Rock Canyon to film the next day instead. Evan brought his monochrome RED Scarlett to film in black & white and I’m still waiting on him to finish the video. My own video should be published eventually as well. I will warn you, it was actually a piece about anxiety and what going outside can do for you.
